November news and events

Hey! There’s a banjolele appearing in this year’s Adelaide Guitar Festival. And it’s being wielded by the inimitable Christa Hughes, in her show with Ben Fink on Saturday 27 November. All the details are here.  ( I know that’s a uke in the pic, but it will be a b’lele in the show). If there’s a posse of ukes wanting to go, we can do a mass booking. Let me know if you’re interested.

Semaphore Street Fair is Sunday 28 November. Just waiting to hear if we’re officially on the bill. Regardless, it’s a great day.

The New York Times talks to Nellie McKay:  ‘And why the ukulele, Nellie?’ ‘I love the ukulele: I find it lowers people’s expectations.’ Oh thanks Nellie. There are also links to two other NYT studio uke performances here: Jonsi of Sigur Ros and Arms, the group led by Todd Goldstein of Harlem Shakes.
